Watch Our Chimney Sweep

Hiring us as a certified Chimney Professional (CCP), as a trusted NCSG member, as a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep®, and as a NFI Certified, means you are trusting your home and family to someone who has spent countless hours studying for (and passing) extensive exams covering everything from the proper inspection and maintenance of a chimney & fireplace to the applicable codes and standards relating to these systems.

Also, as a trusted NCSG member, our business was screened and approved.

In addition to passing a rigorous examination, As a certification holder, we must agree to abide by a stringent Code of Ethics to protect homeowners from potential scams, otherwise, our certification may be revoked. To keep our certification, we must re-certify through examination or continuing education credits every three years since the industry is constantly evolving.

Our certifications credentials are nationally recognized and acknowledged by industry organizations, insurance underwriters, and local, state, and federal agencies as the measure of a chimney and venting technician’s knowledge about the evaluation and maintenance of chimney and venting systems and the knowledge needed to properly plan and install hearth products and their venting systems.

We are trusted experts when builders and officials have questions about the installation and operation of hearth products. Our specialists are- Heat transfer, factors affecting efficiency, codes and standards, venting systems, installation guidelines and troubleshooting, factory-built fireplaces, inserts, wood stoves, house pressure tests, tools and instruments, construction fundamentals, and safety guidelines.

All our certifications meet the highest of educational standards and are regulated by the Indiana State Workforce Innovation Council, Office for Career and Technical Schools, and recognized as the basis for a special license to install hearth products and is recommended by the Environment Protection Agency.

Building code officials prefer to work with a certified company (like us) because they know certified professionals have prepared for and passed an industry exam.

To maintain and keep our certification we have to participate in the NFI Continuing Education Program for certification renewal by attending accredited training programs offering Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

During a typical inspection, we will examine, clean, and verify that the chimney system is sized, installed correctly, and safe to use.

Gain Peace of Mind with Our Comprehensive Chimney Inspections

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Code 211 mandates annual inspections for all chimneys and venting systems, regardless of their frequency of use. Regular usage can lead to the accumulation of flammable and corrosive substances like creosote and soot in the flue, which must be cleaned. Conversely, chimneys that are not in regular use still require assessments to ensure their structural integrity, especially in New England where they face long, harsh winters and constant exposure to the elements. Different chimneys necessitate different types of inspections.

At Green and Clean Home Services, we understand that thorough inspections are crucial for maintaining your chimney and ensuring home safety. We offer two levels of inspections as outlined by the NFPA. Here’s what each level involves:

Chimney Interior Camera Inspection

Chimney Exterior Camera Inspection

Chimney Interior Camera Inspection

Level I Inspections

Level I inspections offer a fundamental examination of the chimney from top to bottom. During this inspection, we assess for any creosote accumulation, flue blockages, or apparent issues that might pose risks. These inspections are advised for homeowners who have consistently maintained their chimney yearly and are included with our chimney and furnace flue sweeping services.

Level II Inspections

Level II inspections provide a more thorough analysis and involve a video scan of the entire chimney flue interior, along with a detailed examination of the chimney structure. We inspect the chimney cap, crown, flashing, masonry, flue liner, damper, appliance connections, smoke chamber, and firebox for any signs of cracks, leaks, damage, or other concerns. These inspections are essential prior to the installation of a new liner or appliance, or when there is a noticeable change in the chimney’s performance.
