Rocky River chimneys are handsome brick and stone that face the lake, and we see a lot of freeze and thaw damage on the north faces.
Rocky River housing runs to 1920s to 1950s brick and stone colonials and Tudors with tall masonry chimneys facing lake wind. The east side sits in the snowbelt and the west side takes the wind straight off Lake Erie, and everywhere in between the temperature crosses freezing dozens of times a winter. Cuyahoga has the oldest housing stock in Northeast Ohio, so century brick with unlined clay flues and 1950s ranches with original ductwork are what we see most.
